Why do Most people not build golf courses… .MAY BE due to Fear, money, no time for maintenance. Hate golf, and golfers. Lack of knowledge, lack of time, lack of confidence. HEY I HAVE A LOT BETTER TO DO WITH MY TIME.
GMG… If I take 30 years to plan the course and have the confidence, and create the vision for a wife who says I drive her crazy, let’s go for it.
Can one see a man hitting golf balls off a deck then, Push the lawn mower faster, And 40 years later using CPR create a course unique enough like the movie that.. “They will come”. A private course using synthetic turf that will always allow him to mow for 2-3 hours per week because this is when he is closest to God.

Why a private course?
For 30 years I did public. In owning a landscape and Aquatic nursery
I understand what a public lifestyle encompasses. You never knew who was going to show up each day. For a 3 gallon boxwood or 20 tons of stone. I once saw a lady take four hours to pick out 6 rocks for a total of $12. Or the time the other lady saw the man IN A KILT on my roof and she ended up receiving most of her purchase for free.

I was lucky enough to have a good friend who took me out one day to play one of the most beautiful private courses in the midwest. Victoria Nationals. And we had the whole course to ourselves that day. It felt like it was our course and with no one in front of us or behind us, we played with a relaxed ease and empowerment that made this day so special.
Years later we played at another, private course, Evansvile country club, with a group in front and behind us , I could sense the minor stress in my foursome at times when we were always needing to be cognizant of are we playing to fast or too slow, is He looking to long for the ball again? But if you can play a course all alone with just your friends, it can be for that day, YOUR courSe, there are no rules. Hell, take a dip in the lake if it’s hot, tee off 5 times from the tree house hole, and drink two cold ones as you approach the 6th hole. It is OUR course today. As long as you sign the waiver, and you’re not messing up Mrs Schroeder’s purple clematis blooms.
The design of the course on just 15 acres was not meant to play where you are wondering who is hitting the balls at you. No. the design of the course, the Masters Course is to know today you are experiencing what I felt that day at Victoria. I could shoot a 4 on every hole and only count the balls I lost. GMG is a course where if you wish to kneel and pray, or the mood warrants such a club that looks more like a cross. there is no one behind you to make you feel rushed. No one in front of you to distract your time with God, and maybe just maybe, your other friends will kneel and pray with you, or just wait with a moment of silence until you are finished.
Your very own exclusive private day, knowing that the golf balls you hit in the lake will someday be found by a local group of venture crew divers, who if not here will dive in the drifts of Cozumel, but will not snorkel, for here at GMG the captain and first mate will not get distracted.
A private course that allows many to help their fellow man by using Fun while Fundraising. And showing our youth, those who are not afraid of the word WORK. That IN THIS COUNTRY….one can dream exponentially, and can have a vision and slowly work towards that vision with all the elements and nuances in check to produce something that in reality is just a small part of their life. But with the value of research and patience you can build it especially with God’s help.

In Other words, John has built a quasi golf course in his back by using synthetic turf. Designed over 30 years where he can mow the bermuda and bluegrass and allow others to play on it. But it’s not really his passion as much as the other cool things he plays with.
That trebuchet is the GOAT, just as long as you can hit the burning spot in the lake, where the confident and happy lady in her 60’s, expressed to the crowd that it must be another clematis, of a different nature.
